Royal Air Force Typhoon FGR4s have joined forces with France's air force in a combined operation against an hidden munitions depot in Syria used by the Daesh militant organization, as stated by the British defence ministry.
The site, pinpointed through intelligence, was thought to be storing arms and explosives, the release indicated, and was situated in mountains just north of the historic site of Palmyra in Syria's central region.
"The RAF jets utilized precision-guided Paveway IV munitions to target a number of approach shafts leading to the site... preliminary assessments are that the objective was successfully hit," the MoD said.
There was no sign of any harm to civilians in the operation late on Saturday and every plane involved returned to base without incident, the defence officials confirmed.
The Typhoon FGR4s were assisted by a Voyager tanker plane.

British military aircraft have conducted patrols over Syria to "prevent any attempted comeback" of the group after its military defeat at the battle of Baghuz in 2019, the ministry said.
"I extend gratitude to the personnel of our armed forces participating in this strike for their skill and their valour," the Defence Secretary said. "Including them were numerous British troops on duty over Christmas and New Year. This operation, to eliminate terrorist threats who pose a risk to our safety, highlights how UK forces are ready to step up, all year round, protecting the UK within its borders and strong abroad."
