Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
